  • 11/2008, Visiting Nurse Association, CHF Committee, This committee served to developed documentation tools and strategies to improve the plan of care for the patient with heart failure. Created presentation 'Heart Failure, Etiology, Recognition, and Management' which was utilized to enhance the RNs’ skills and knowledge regarding patients with a diagnosis of heart failure. It was also utilized by the intake RN staff to enhance the gathering of in-hospital information on all referrals.
  • 01/2005, 09/2014, Maimonides Medical Center, Co-Chairperson of the Department Labor Management Council (DLMC), This council is comprised on union leaders, staff nurses, nursing leadership, and ancillary staff. It has researched, using the FMEA method, how effectively patients were being monitored in all telemetry units. This council accomplished an increased awareness of the needs of the monitored patient with improved clinical competence of RN’s and PCT’s and was achieved through program development and implementation. Patients were assigned acuity levels giving them a more appropriate plan of care. Also, served on as Co-Chairperson on committee that developed the nurses computerized hand-off tool.
  • 04/2002, Maimonides Medical Center, Co-creator and Educator 'Cross-training to CTICU' Program, This three-week program was designed for the nurses in the Cardiothoracic step-down. It was directed toward the enhancement of present skills and the attainment of critical care skills. Team-building was enhanced and resulted in decreased number of patients returning to CTICU.

  • 02/2002, Maimonides Medical Center, Performance Improvement Project: Return of Patients to CTICU Due to Respiratory Compromise., Worked collaboratively with the Nurse Manager of CTICU and Utilization Review to investigate the reasons for patients returned to CTICU with respiratory compromise from the step-down area. The 'Cross-Training' project was part of this program. Through data collection, education This project resulted in decreased incidence of patients returning to CTICU by 50% within 6 months.
