I take great pride in living up to my name, Maverick. I want to question everything and by doing so I am in a constant state of learning. The image of the stars on this resume is my own astrophotography and is just one example of the many things that I pursue simply because I seek answers to questions. I am motivated by seeking answers, not necessarily by achieving accolades, although sometimes those come my way as well.
I seek a University environment that will challenge my thinking and raise new questions for me. I believe I can be a tremendous asset to the learning environment not only because I have work ethic and a strong basis of knowledge to work from, but also because a team would benefit from my kind, helpful, cooperative, and caring disposition.
I was 13, in the 8th grade, and honored to be only one of 4 males in the orchestra, as well as chosen to be "First Chair" playing the violin. The 30 hours a week for 7 months of my dedication, practice, and rehearsals taught me that when a group of people work together, it can be magical.
After attending Curry summer music camp at NAU the summer of 2019, To better prepare for the difficult repertoire, I received a scholarship to work with a master suzuki violinist every week. As an online student with strong ambition to hone my craft, I developed a love for classical music and the violin at a very young age.
More than fifty young Verde Valley and Flagstaff musicians under the directions of Kristina Beachell were invited to perform in New York. The adjudicated event was to occur on March 16th, 2020. This was an extremely rare honor for a youth orchestra in a small western town. Our group of young hardworking musicians spent months preparing for this once in a lifetime experience.
Sadly, the plane was turned around on March 11th on the way to New York, when the pandemic brought the country to its feet. Although we were extremely disappointed we never made it to Carnegie Hall, we learned more in those 7 months than we could have ever imagined. I am grateful that I was part of such an amazing opportunity that solidified my talent and taught me that I could achieve literally anything I set my mind too.
I am a Blue Belt Level on track for Black Belt within the next 16 months.
