My role involves managing a high level of communications from clinical staff to coordinate critical patient transfers, triage emergency and trauma cases, and facilitate provider consults. Key responsibilities include documentation of medical health records, protecting sensitive information, and serving as a “communication hub” to connect medical professionals.

As a police dispatcher, every day introduces new challenges and situations. This role taught me how to consistently work well in high stress situations and multitasking skills. Key responsibilities included operating communication systems to relay critical information to police units, monitoring emergency calls and prioritizing responses based on urgency, and coordination with law enforcement personnel to ensure effective dispatch operations. This also included communication with other agencies, documentation of call logs, and attention to detail to ensure officer safety and efficiency.

Being a PSA, I worked directly in the field with sworn police officers. I assisted the public with incidents such as vehicle collisions, stolen property, burglaries, and other crime scene investigations. Further into my time as a PSA, I was tasked with training oncoming service aides on procedures, policies, and operational protocols. I was also given the opportunity to work with specialized units - such as the major crime scene team.
