2020-2022 - I was a member of the Marcus High School Band, specifically, a member of the Color Guard. During my time I acquired many useful skills, and took on a lot of responsibilities. I learned how to manage time, and build schedules. On average, I'd be at school for 11 hours each day, and would attend competitions during a number of weekends. Each day I would balance between schoolwork and color guard, along with completing various household tasks, taking care of my pet rabbit, and babysitting my younger brother. My mother is a respiratory therapist, and was one of the brave healthcare workers working on the frontline during the pandemic. As a result, I became the main home caretaker at just 15 years old.
2022-2024 - During my junior year in high school I decided to move on from color guard and pursue my interests in the culinary/baking world. I attended classes at my high school's career center, TECC-West. I studied and trained under the guidance of four chefs, with one of them being the reputable Chef Darron DeRosa. Those two years were incredible, and confirmed that I had passion for the culinary/baking world. I worked in front of house and learned everything hospitality, I baked and decorated various desserts and pastries in back of house, I designed fliers for the seasonal dessert sales. During cafe services, that were held every Thursday, I was the main expeditor. Every week I'd be tasked with making my famous cinnamon rolls that were sold during cafe services. I take pride in everything that I do. The foundation of my culinary/baking knowledge was built on high standards; quality over quantity. I prioritize food safety and cleanliness.
2024-Now - After graduating from high school in the spring of 2024, I have dedicated my time to pursuing an associates degree in Bakery/Pastry at the Brookhaven campus of Dallas College. Some of the classes I have completed so far are sanitation and safety, fundamentals of baking, basic food prep, advanced food prep, cake decorating 1 and 2, and breads and rolls. Whenever I am not at school, I am helping take care of my family. I still look after my brother, and my pet rabbit, and complete a majority of the household work.
The reason why I would like to pursue this role is because I have a passion for baking/pastry arts, and I would like to gain some real-world experience as I continue pursing my studies. I truly believe that I could be a beneficial asset to you and your team. I am a determined hard-worker, and am eager to continue learning and growing.
I have a chronic autoimmune disease called Ulcerative Colitis that affects my everyday life. Thankfully, I am currently in remission. As of now, there is no cure for this chronic illness. So, I will be unable to work on one Wednesday, once every six weeks in order to receive my life-saving medication via infusion (medicine administered through an IV), and to continue staying in remission. Infusions take multiple hours, and leave me very fatigued. Typically, on the day of an infusion I am already very fatigued as my medicine has already worn off. I am a hard worker, and I want to be at %100 so that I can give %120. I am excellent when it comes to communicating, so I will be sure to notify someone of any changes. That being said, I will need to have access to a bathroom in case of any emergencies. Thank you for your understanding, I greatly appreciate it!
