Pre-Medical Student | John Jay Scholar | Columbia University
Dedicated and driven, I am a first-generation, low-income freshman at Columbia University, pursuing a career in medicine with unwavering passion. Coming from Croatia, I bring a diverse perspective to the field of biology as I embark on my journey towards medical school.
Recipient of full financial aid through the merit based John Jay scholarship, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to pursue my education at Columbia University without the burden of financial constraints. As one of only 50 recognized John Jay scholars, I am committed to academic excellence and community engagement. Through rigorous coursework and active involvement in research opportunities, I aim to cultivate the skills and knowledge necessary to make a meaningful impact in healthcare.
With a relentless drive to overcome obstacles and a deep-seated determination to succeed, I am prepared to navigate the challenges of the pre-medical track with resilience and tenacity. Eager to leverage my unique background and experiences, I am poised to contribute to the advancement of medicine and serve as a catalyst for positive change in healthcare.
Rare disease compass is a project that deals with the creation of a web tool for the purpose of rapid diagnosis of rare diseases. By ingesting more symptoms, clinicians receive corresponding rare diseases ranked by p-value and corresponding genes.
This greatly accelerates the process of diagnosing rare diseases and directs clinicians to the right clinical path to healing the disease.
Some of the experts that participated in the realization of the project are: Prof. Dr. Sc. Mislav Radic prim. dr. med., and Jadranka Brozd.
