Central Records Division - Responsible for inmate sentence calculation and time computation, requiring in depth knowledge of various laws and administrative regulations including those regarding Correctional Incentive Time credit, loss and restoration, parole and escape, dead time, out of state recaptures, CIT restrictions, sex offender laws, and split sentences in accordance with ADOC Administrative Regulations and Alabama statutes. Responsible for analysis and investigation of inmate sentencing information received from Alabama court judges via transcripts and court orders. Maintain an open working relationship with Alabama circuit clerks and sheriffs/jails. Also prepare written affidavit responses to Habeas Corpus complaints regarding inmate sentence calculation for the ADOC Legal Division and the Alabama Attorney General's office. Responsible for the supervision and maintenance of all present and past state inmate records. Supervise and direct 45+/- administrative employees to ensure productivity standards are met each day, including safeguarding sensitive and confidential inmate information, ensuring all information received from circuit clerks across the State of Alabama is accurate and complete, processing detainers and serving warrants for other law enforcement agencies, entering delinquent parolees into NCIC and issuing arrest warrants, and for a thorough and careful investigation and review of inmates in ADOC custody before release back into the community. Draper Correctional Center - Supervised Classification Specialists and administrative staff while managing the DCC Classification Unit in accordance with ADOC Administrative Regulations. Responsible for unit PREA referrals and intake assessments. Member of the institutional Security Threat Group Intelligence Team who investigated and analyzed gang propaganda and determined gang affiliation for staff security and safety purposes. Responsible for ensuring review and investigation of 1,200 inmates twice yearly and to update records and security levels, and for interviewing and reclassing inmates in Restrictive Housing Unit due to negative behavior. Also responsible for employee performance appraisals, investigating and completing staff progressive disciplinary actions and maintaining/approving employee timecards.
Kilby Correctional Facility (Permanent Party) - Assigned a permanent party caseload at Kilby, requiring thorough review of each inmate assigned to the facility every 6 months. Investigation and review of inmate personal and criminal history included analyzing and updating inmate's electronic file, investigation through Alacourt and Alacop (LETS) criminal history, fingerprint cards, and pre-sentence investigations, as well as a face-to-face interview to update any changes to the information in inmate's record, including investigation of any disciplinary actions received during the review period. Counseled caseload inmates face-to-face weekly, notified sentencing judges of disciplinary actions and court-ordered program completions, completed sex offender paperwork in compliance with SORNA guidelines and submitted ICE forms on suspected aliens. Managed inmates with medical holds, maintained a list of inmates outgated to court and served active warrants on inmates. Supervisor backup in the permanent party unit.
Kilby Correctional Facility (Receiving and Intake) - Responsible for comprehensive intake review of each inmate received at Kilby Correctional Facility to affect proper classification and institutional placement in accordance with ADOC Administrative Regulations. Investigation of inmate personal and criminal history included analyzing updating inmate's electronic file, investigation through Alacourt and Alacop (LETS) history, fingerprint cards, and pre-sentence investigations, as well as a face-to-face interview to gather intelligence on criminal background, demographics, gang affiliation, special education history, self-reported convictions, substance abuse treatment needs, medical requirements and mental health needs. Communicated with federal, state, county and city agencies to obtain criminal conviction details, sex offender verification in accordance with SORNA guidelines, outstanding warrants verification, pending felony cases, investigation of immigration status, and noted behavioral issues at other detention facilities.
