Eating disorder therapist for teens, adults, and family at hospital level of care. I worked in inpatient, residential, and partial hospitalization. Job focused on stabilization, challenging disordered eating behaviors, and making sure family and clients had accurate supports in place after hospital stay.
Therapist for community mental health agency. I offered individual. group, and family therapy for minors. This job also required a lot of community work with schools, other agencies, even attorneys, and DHS. I provided CBT, TFCBT, ACT, and DBT techniques to children 5-18, and family therapy for each of these clients. I began under supervision when first licensed in 2019. I received by LPC in December of 2021.
Waitress for 2 different restaurants while in college and graduate school. Manage high stress, long shifts, responsibility for large amounts of cash each shift. I also occasionally had shifts as an assistant manager at each location.
My first Internship/practicum was in a small community private practice called TASC. I worked alongside the owner and LPC-S, Dawn Spragg. At TASC, I learned how to run the practice as I was the only intern, and Dawn the only other clinician. I learned to document, use clinical skills, and engage in the community.
I then interned at an inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility for adult women. My supervisor was Chad Lee. Here I learned how to work in a larger agency, learned how addiction treatment worked, and continued to refine my clinical skills.
I was a lifeguard during free swim, and the University diving team's practices. I taught learn to swim classes for adults and children. I also taught adult fitness swim to skilled swimmers. This job required a lot of planning and preparing, as well as leadership and safety measures.
I began working at Boys and Girls Clubs of America when I was in high school and into college. I grew up in a boys and girls club and was in several leadership development programs throughout my pre-teen and teen years. I won awards for my philanthropy and community service. One of which was "Youth of the Year." This job gave me an opportunity to advance my skills and give back to my community. It also offered me opportunities such as community connection and scholarship for college.
