COMMUNICATION

I deem communication a necessary role as a supervisor and as an employee. Communication will give us the power to improve our abilities to help rehabilitate those in our care and work cohesively with others. Without respectful communication, progress will not be possible. As an ORC, Chairperson and Corrections Officer it was important that I provide information accurately and respectfully to any person I communicated with to ensure my message was received positively and precisely.

LEADERSHIP

Throughout my DOCCS career, I have learned to be fair and consistent with any individual in which I came in contact. I am approachable, a good listener and consider any suggestions, constructive criticisms and recommendations I am provided to help improve myself, my work environment and my career. I believe it is important for people to work together regardless of their title. We will not accomplish our goals if we can’t share our ideals in a safe environment. That is what leadership entails. Respect for one another; collaboration and a mutual goal. I have had leadership roles including Acting SORC for 2 years, I was a CIU Team Leader from 2015 until 2023 and President of the Football and Cheer Program for 10 years.
