General Dental Assistant Responsibilities

- Assist dentist during exams and procedures (fillings, crowns, extractions)

- Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms

- Take dental X-rays and update patient records

- Seat patients, review medical history, and take vitals

- Provide post-operative instructions to patients

- Take impressions for crowns, guards, and whitening trays

- Maintain infection control and OSHA compliance,

- Chart procedures and update roles in Open Dental

Orthodontic Assistant Responsibilities

- Assist orthodontist with braces placement and removal

- Change archwires, elastics, and ligatures

- Prepare patients for adjustments and follow-up visits

- Take impressions or digital scans for aligners such as Invisalign and/or Essix Retainers

- Educate patients on braces care, hygiene, and appliance use

- Maintain sterilization and infection control standards

- Set up and break down orthodontic trays and equipment
