Mia Vandever

I am currently a sophomore at Point Loma Nazarene University where I am studying environmental studies with a minor in environmental biology. Much of my volunteering and class experience has involved the topic of ecological conservation and species biodiversity. I am committed to fostering community engagement in environmental preservation initiatives. My goal in pursuing an environmentally focused major and biology minor is to equip myself with the skills needed to enter into a workforce in the field of environmental preservation.

• Catalina Field Experience, Plant labs, marine bio labs, water quality.
• Constructing Protective Aquatic Habitats, In the spring of my sophomore year at Point Loma, I had the opportunity to construct artificial aquatic habitats to protect native fish species at Santee Lakes.
• Spanish Immersion Study Abroad, Santo Domingo, Costa Rica, Studied Spanish while living with a host family and exploring biodiversity in the Costa Rican jungles.
