I have been growing tired lately of wasting my talents with on-site construction projects that do not match my skill sets. Journeyman Electrician

  • Union 617 dispatch: The work on these two buildings consisted of rough conduit installations of 3/4" to 2" EMT and branch circuit wiring. These two buildings were two of several Google and U-tube facilities designed for office, meeting and presentation type of activities. 8 months later we were almost done the work force was reduced and I was transferred to another project.
  • The next project was at San Francisco International Airport. This time in terminal 2 baggage handling, ticketing, and behind house areas. Mostly 3/4" to 2" conduit systems and branch circuit wiring. Baggage handling systems require many devices to operate with out delay. My group installed many Motor control stations, drive control devices, photo-eyes, contour sensors, stop\start stations, and large PLC control panels. The job came to a slow, reduction of work force came and I was laid off.

  • We provided all of the wiring for large multi family buildings that had anywhere from 125 to 320 apartments per building. My job was to install the one-line metering and switch gear and public areas electrical systems. Usually my crews consisted of 3 to 8 electricians. Lots of big MC cables, lots of meter stacks, each apartment gets its own meter and feeder.
  • Bus-a-duct installations 3000 A.
  • 480 to 208 xfmr wiring.
  • Other wiring systems I was in charge of were elevators, emergency generator wiring, ATS, EM panels, Distributed antenna systems(DAS), ERRCS rescue radio, boilers, pool equipment, split system heat pumps, and HVAC equipment.

  • IBEW 617 job dispatch. The job consisted of remodeling existing single story lab facilities. Most of the newly build area were designated for table and vent/ hood experiments. Hundred or so “ceiling service panels” wired with emergency and normal power recepts for lab table needs. The job was coming to an end, a work force reduction came, I was laid off and we were into covid-19 shelter in place.

  • IBEW 617 job dispatch. This was a small campus of buildings. They were three stories located in San Mateo. My job was too provide piping equipment and support for the complete fire alarm system. We piped and helped pull wire and work through the commissioning of the systems. When the job came to an end, a reduction and workforce came and I was laid off.

  • The next task I had was running a crew of eight electricians on the main piping for all the lighting systems. The job came to an end a reduction workforce came, and I was laid off.

I was tasked with running one line conduits, setting transformers, pulling large cables in terminating. we moved onto circuits lighting and some outside yardwork. The job came to an end I reduction work came and I was laid off.

  • Our job was to perform 180 day preventative maintenance and inspections on batteries in the north slope oil fields
  • We cleaned, watered and inspected instrumentation, communication, remote switch gear batteries, and UPS batteries
  • We would also change out the entire battery
  • Some of these batteries had 240 cells or “jars” in series at 2.19 VDC each
  • The old batteries had to be packaged and shipped off the slope
  • Other tasks were to maintain the UPS/ ATS/ chargers and inverters
  • This was a two weeks on two off work schedule that took two days to fly home from.

My time working on the Alaskan pipeline has given me extensive safety, detailed job tasks that include major safety concerns and mini protocols and a lot of work permits and inspections

My five years of working with Mechanical controls as an electrician has given me many experiences that include working with the plumbers and engineers, and start up techs on mechanical systems Many times we’ve worked in the hospitals with boilers, chillers heat, exchanger, descaling systems, hot water, and glycol systems and air handling systems

Most of the jobs in Alaska that I worked in the 20 years were very constrictive with Department of defense protocols US Department of energy methods of procedures Federal controlled utilities
