  • Company Overview: The scope of technology utilized by the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County ranges from simple communications devices such as handheld tablets to complex database driven software applications that enable communications and interactions both internally and with the general public. ITS provides technology services to increase the speed of business and availability of information in new ways that were never before possible.
  • Architected and lead the implementation of a Cisco UCSX converged infrastructure deployments in two different data centers supporting as part of infrastructure critical refresh.
  • Architected and lead the implementation of pure flash array deployments in two different data centers supporting as part of infrastructure critical refresh.
  • Architected and lead the implementation of a multi Petabyte refresh of a new Commvault Hyperscale X Hyper Converged Infrastructure deployment. This improved reliability and recoverability for our mission critical backups.
  • Lead, manage and mentor a team of 15 engineers and 3 managers supporting the day-to-day operations of multiple Data Centers and satellite sites. Coordinates with other ITS teams to support Department long range road map goals and initiatives.
  • Coordinated efforts with the infrastructure team and vendors to resolve a critical SAN issue. This restored performance and stability for the ITS virtual infrastructure and the CAL and GIS projects to complete on time.

  • Company Overview: Founded in 1965, PathGroup is a premier provider of anatomic, clinical and molecular pathology services, as well as one of the largest providers of women’s health services in the United States.
  • Manages a team of 7 engineers supporting the day-to-day operations of multiple Data Centers. Coordinates and works with the architecture team to suggest and research new infrastructure both on-prem and in the cloud to meet critical business requirements.
  • Drove initiatives to update multiple Cisco UCS VMware clusters from VMware vSphere 6.5 to 7.0.3. This allowed the business to deploy Kubernetes on-prem for new application initiatives.
  • Deployed multiple Pure X series flash arrays to support decommissioning older VNX SAN arrays. This allowed the business to lower rack costs as the pure solution uses 75 percent less rack space. This also improved storage performance by 200%.
  • Played a pivotal role in establishing a new Azure environment for the business. We moved multiple services to Azure ranging from DNS to Azure Active Directory. A disaster recovery plan was developed leveraging Azure and Veeam to support business critical recovery criteria and to protect against Ransomware.

  • Works with a team of 25 engineers to support and upgrade a network consisting of 3 data centers staggered throughout the country. Maintains relationships with multiple vendors and handles mission critical patching for all IT assets and mentor’s junior personnel.
  • Performed patching and remediation on approximately 35 ESXi hosts that were two versions behind. This secured the hosts and improved host performance and virtual machine density.
  • Deployed a new software delivery, patching and suite, Desktop Central to replace an old System Center environment. This has improved the service desk’s ability to support end users, deploy software and to patch workstations and servers very quickly. Currently 1800 devices are supported with this suite.
  • Took the lead on deploying a new Pure Storage solution to replace an aging XtremIO environment. Coordinated with other engineers and project managers to get the new array online, validated and into production 2 weeks ahead of schedule.
  • Was the lead in getting the new VMware on AWS environment deployed and coordinated with other stakeholders to get workloads moved over to the new environment on time and on schedule.

Accomplishments

Recovered a failed vendor driven Powerstore SAN array failure that took down production for the entire city of Nashville. We didn't loose a single virtual machine out of the 1000+ plus virtual machines we host.


Pushed a right sizing campaign to recover unused virtual machine resources and try to shrink our virtual environment to support lowering our VMWare VCF costs.


Designed and implemented a rapid fix to our backup environment to address the lack of backups caused by numerous technical and procedural issues.
