As a Health and Safety Officer / Risk Manager for Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services, I am expected to consider safety as a top priority for all personnel and promote physical and mental wellness throughout the agency. By advocating for policies within organization my goal is to protect personnel from unnecessary injuries and losses related to accidents. In 2020, initiatives include education and evaluation of health risks effecting the department. As the Health and Safety Officer, I coordinated the Department’s Safety Stand Down weeks.

• Conducted job safety analysis and personal protective equipment analysis to identify hazards for elimination and select proper safety equipment to protect employees from hazards of job.
• Performed safety analyses to evaluate potential risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
• Monitored workplace activities to determine compliance with safety regulations and standards.
• Developed and implemented safety policies and procedures to promote workplace safety.
• Investigated incidents, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Identified accident causes and optimal prevention strategies by conducting thorough investigations and analyses.
• Researched and devised new safety initiatives and strategies to improve safety performance.
• Conducted safety audits and inspections to identify workplace hazards and deficiencies.

• Coordinated with unit leadership and direct superiors for taskings and managed subordinates to execute.
• Upheld code of conduct and maintained professionalism in stressful situations.
• Worked in dirty and uncomfortable conditions, sometimes in dangerous, deployed locations.
• Trained in basic combat skills as well as Structural Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician, Airport Firefighter, Wildland Firefighter and Confined Space Training.
