My background both in employment and my personal life have always involved a mechanical aspect. From heavy equipment repair and maintenance to cars, motorcycles and all aspects of the General contracting Industry (Plumbing ,Electrical, Hvac) I have always enjoyed and taken pride in learning all I can to be proficient at them and applied them in my life whether personally or as requirements of my employer.
In the early days of my employment at Dantrawl Inc. we where a small company based in Ballard, Wa. My duties included shop and equipment maintenance. As we grew I was given the position of Delivery driver which included packaging and loading the company flat bed trucks with our products. As the company grew we leased another location. By this time our business had grown to supplying the commercial fishing fleet of Alaska with spare parts (Netting, Line, Hardware etc) I took over the Shipping and Receiving lead position in about 1997, this included pulling orders, packaging, inventory management, logistics of deliveries and scheduling pickup's and deliveries by our drivers and various LTL shippers both Internationally and within the United States. During this time I was trained and licensed to operate our forklifts rated from 6,000 lbs to 40,000 lbs. Being a naturally Mechanical Minded person I also repaired and maintained most of our specialized commercial fishing production equipment, this included preventative maintenance and emergency repairs such as Hydraulic systems, electrical, mechanical and welding. As a small company it was imperative that we worked to problem solve on the go as a team, whether it was deliveries or equipment repairs we had to make it happen as well as we could.
In 2007 I completed a Training Course as An HVAC technician. Over the next 3 years I worked at a couple different companies as a technician. My duties included diagnosing and repairing Natural Gas, Propane, OIL and A/C-Heat pump systems in both residential and commercial buildings. Due to the recession in which was still affecting the industry in late 2010 I started a small HVAC installation company working with various builders I had made connections with throughout the years. By 2012 I was approached by Dantrawl Inc. to resume my position in the Shipping and Receiving Dept due to the company growth and need for my knowledge of the industry and its complex way of operating.
For a brief moment of just over a year and a half I took a position as a Deckhand, Cook, Engineer assistant on a 122' sea going Tugboat called the M/V Blackhawk. I was hired initially as a Deckhand/Cook for a crew of up to 6. As time progressed and they realized my mechanical nature I was also given Engine room and facilities repair and maintenance duties. Our route was from Portland, Or. to Texada Island in B.C. to load up 28,000 tons of 98% pure limestone which was used as fertilizer for the wheat fields in Eastern Oregon. Due to the dangerous nature of the job and time spent away from home with a newborn child I put in my notice and pursued a career in HVAC.
