Recent university graduate with a Biomedical Sciences major and Biology and Chemistry minor. Detail-oriented leader in and out of the classroom, able to manage both the designated tasks at hand while also communicating and adapting to the group’s needs. Seeking to expand my knowledge of the medical field through practical experience interacting with Duke University Hospital patients and medical professionals.

Leading the prioritization and scheduling of crucial procedures along with the delegation of specific tasks to individuals on the team whose skill set matched. Collaboration within the team while designating key tasks aided in the retrieval of the desired tissue samples with the additional scheduling of the team to designate who would arrive each hour during the dehydration and blocking of our chosen rat tissues. These blocks were then run through the microtome and rehydrated for staining in H&E, Trichrome, or PAS (Periodic acid–Schiff), with the top 10 of these slides being chosen for submission.

Leading the process of rewriting the lab procedure, compiling materials need, performing necessary calculation for dilutions and measurements, creating data tables based on procedural data and expected results prior to the lab, and meeting with the professor to discuss the findings from each lab period. These results analyzed for accuracy and precision and were then formatted to replicate scientific research lab writeups in accordance with the stated professional standards. For the final labs, I lead a group of two, tasked to run through a 3 weeklong experiment using GC-MS, Atomic absorption spectrometer, and spectrophotometer to determine the concentrations of various minerals within different substances.
