Summary

I am a certified EMT, with roughly a year of experience as the primary EMT-B provider at ASAP EMS (Port Gibson, MS) and nearly two years of experience at Covington County Hospital EMS service (Collins, MS), adept in critical decision-making and patient assessments. Excelled in high-pressure environments, significantly improving patient outcomes through effective airway management and compassionate care. Demonstrated commitment to scene safety and vital signs monitoring, cleaning and dressing wounds, enhancing teamwork and patient satisfaction. Established great relationships with the local sheriff deputies, PD, and fire departments which enabled us to work as an effective team to provide care in the field. I have ran your typical 911 emergencies one would see as just another shift. I have worked a couple of GSWs and stabbings without crumbling under pressure from the situation. I have demonstrated the will to actively (such as not having to be told to do this or do that) help my ALS providing partners in their interventions (never doing anything out of my scope of practice or violation of protocols) by allowing them to focus on the most important part of patient care. keeping the ambulance stocked, clean, and equipment in working condition played a major role in ensuring the patient receives the best medical care they can get in the pre-hospital setting. In the year that I worked as the primary EMT-B caregiver has helped my confidence and solidified my passion for the medical field.

Work History

EMT-Basic

Covington County Hospital
09.2022 - 05.2024
  • Managed stressful situations calmly under pressure while maintaining composure to provide the best care possible for patients experiencing traumatic events.
  • Assisted paramedics with their advanced life support interventions when necessary, acting as an integral part of the emergency response team. This includes, during every 911 call, applying the pulse oximeters, sphygmomanometers, placing 12 leads on the PT and preparing the monitor to be ready for the paramedic, applying oxygen to the patient. When working a code, I helped the Paramedic by applying the Defrib. electrodes in the correct location, and performing CPR so that the Paramedic could focus on preparing advanced life support interventions and cardiac medicines.
  • Provided compassionate care for diverse populations including children, elderly individuals, pregnant women, and individuals with special needs during medical emergencies.
  • Maintained up-to-date knowledge of protocols, procedures and medical advances.
  • Increased patient satisfaction by demonstrating empathy, active listening, and clear communication during medical emergencies.
  • Responded to emergency medical calls, providing basic life support services in accordance with protocols.

  • Maintained levelheadedness and efficiency in high-pressure situations, effectively prioritizing tasks to save lives and provide medical care.
  • Enhanced teamwork efficiency by effectively collaborating with paramedics, firefighters, and police officers in high-stress environments.
  • Contributed to a positive work environment within EMS team by fostering good relationships with colleagues and demonstrating dedication to continuous improvement in patient care practices.
  • Dressed and cleaned wounds many times during emergencies such as stabbings, gunshot wounds, so forth.
  • Maintained professional competence through ongoing education, training sessions, and skills evaluations to deliver the highest quality patient care possible.

EMT-B

ASAP EMS
06.2021 - 07.2022
  • Improved patient outcomes by efficiently assessing, treating, and stabilizing medical conditions in emergency situations in accordance to protocols and interventions that are within my EMT-B scope.
  • Ensured timely decision-making under pressure during challenging rescue operations.
  • Maintained optimal ambulance readiness by regularly inspecting vehicles for cleanliness, functionality, and proper stock levels.
  • Boosted patient satisfaction through compassionate communication and empathetic care during crises.
  • Reduced risk of infection transmission among patients while providing care through strict adherence to universal precautions guidelines.
  • Maintained levelheadedness and efficiency in high-pressure situations, effectively prioritizing tasks to save lives and provide medical care.
  • Evaluated patient vital signs and status to determine care needs using pulse oximeters and electronic vital sign machines.
  • Supported accurate documentation processes by completing detailed patient care reports within required timeframes.
  • Streamlined communication with other healthcare professionals by effectively relaying vital signs and pertinent information upon arrival at hospitals or other treatment facilities.
  • During my time at ASAP EMS, I worked as the primary caregiver for Port Gibson (Claiborne County) providing BLS medical interventions, adhering to my scope of practice and protocols. My partner and I were the only ambulance crew for the city (we worked 5/2 rotations). Thanks to this, the 911 emergency calls we ran allowed myself to grow confident in my ability to provide BLS intervention and working codes effectively.
