I am a soon to be RN-BSN graduate with years of extra-curricular experience working with children ages 4-18. I am passionate about the importance of communication, patient education, and empowerment. Contributing to a positive culture in both a personal and professional setting is the cornerstone of my life philosophy. I am a fiercely hard worker and hold myself to high standards of integrity. Upon graduation from TCC, I will have completed over 450 clinical hours of patient care, to include pediatric experience and preceptorship at the Chesapeake Emergency Department.
As Head Instructor of the Women's Only Jiu-Jitsu Program:
- Designed and implemented an adaptable long-term curriculum that is applicable to both high level competitors and hobbyists
- Responsible for evaluating the efficacy of the teaching methods used to instruct complicated martial arts techniques
- Adapted teaching styles to fit the various learning styles of students
- Assessed and diagnosed various deficiencies in high-level competitor strategies
As Assistant Youth Instructor:
- Trained and mentored under a world class competitor black belt
- Observed and dissected various complicated martial arts techniques with skilled instructors from around the country
- Assisted in instructing classes of up to 35 children ranging in ages from 8-15
- Lead classes of up to 10 children ranging in ages from 4-6
- Developed methods for increased student engagement through goal setting
- Served as support system throughout competition days and through mat-side coaching during competition matches
