- Platform Assessment and Stabilization: Used a gap analysis with a matrix to evaluate Cook Children's IGEL platform's state, leading to a defined path for improvement. This process addressed numerous variables to achieve a stable IGEL OS environment.
- Upgraded 3,400 devices to stable IGEL OS version, ensuring seamless transition and enhanced system reliability.
- Performance Verification - Conducted time trials comparing IGEL OS 11 & IGEL OS 12, OS 12 performed on par with or faster than OS 11. This opened the door for OS 12 deployment.
- IGEL OS 11 approaches its End-of-Life date (June 30, 2026), thus the move to OS 12.
- Troubleshooting: Issues were found in production (not testing) with badge readers and logins.
- IGEL Agent for Imprivata (IAFI) was unable to use certain RFIDea badge readers. The fix was to upgrade IAFI. A second issue arose where logons would not progress. This was resolved by upgrading Citrix Storefront & changing a setting with the Citrix Delivery Controllers.
- Innovations and Configuration: Remote Display Management - Devised a method to remotely configure display settings on IGEL OS 12 using the Universal Management Suite (UMS) and UMS Webapp.
- Developed and implemented reboot schedules, including an Odd/Even numeric strategy that reduced device restarts significantly.
- Managed device configurations and settings to ensure optimal performance. - Managed changes to device renaming script & default directory rules.
- BIOS Upgrades - Remotely upgraded BIOS for 583 Dell Optiplex 3000 devices without issues.
- Project Management: Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) - Produced SOPs for IGEL setup, monitor configuration, and audio settings specifically for EPIC training and library environments.
- Collaboration: Worked with other teams to solve problems, improving the end user experience.
- Deployment Capacity: Increased capacity from 200 to 1200 a night with 4 remote repositories.
