VALOR Clinic Foundation ia a 501(c)3 founded by SGM Mark Baylis (ret). The foundation opened Paul's House, short for The Major Paul Syverson Veterans Sanctuary in 2014. It is a transitional housing facility for homeless veterans. The facility can accommodate up 13 veterans at a time. Upon entering the program veterans are provided a mentor, life skills classes, information about the VA and their benefits, peer to peer groups, etc., all while providing the with a warm place to call home free of charge.
Created and implemented operation policies, processes and procedures to keep the homeless veteran housing facility running smoothly.
Managed all facets of the facility, such as client intake, admissions, files, progress reports, daily operations, and programs. I was the liaison between VALOR and all appropriate government, community agencies, and organizations to meet veterans' healthcare, employment, and housing (HUID-VASH) needs. Proven track record of securing safe housing for 150+ veterans with a recidivism rate of 5%. Partnered with Veteran Service officers to ensure that veterans' claims were filed correctly and completely. Facilitated veteran appointments for VA Compensation and Pension and healthcare needs. Led a team of ten volunteers daily. Oversaw all clothing, food, and household donations. Organized food drives for holiday meals program and during my tenure grew that program from 20 - 400 veteran families that were provided a full day of meals for three holiday a year.
