• Provide age-appropriate nursing care and education for pediatric patients in the pre-operative and post-operative period, encompassing ambulatory surgical procedures, and complicated inpatient procedures.
• Coordinate care with the whole surgical team to prepare for treatment, carry out interventions, and enhance continuum of care. The pediatric multidisciplinary team often includes: the child life specialist, social worker, anesthesia provider, surgeon, and any residents and/or middle practitioners involved in the surgical case.
• Evaluate vital sign trends, surgical sites, and laboratory data to determine emergency intervention needs for critically ill pediatric patients.

• Perform patient education to ensure that both patients and families are educated on preparedness for surgical procedures, medication management, wound care, possible postoperative complications, and follow up appointments and/or procedures.
• Initiate IVs and administer sedation for minimally invasive procedures such as cardioversions and endoscopies under the supervision of a physician or anesthesiologist.
• Identify and manage life-threatening postoperative and anesthetic complications in the perianesthesia care unit such as laryngospasm, aspiration, hypoventilation, apnea, arrhythmias, and acute bleeding in children and adults.
• Charge nurse, preceptor, member of the rapid response team, and unit representative of the following committees: Staffing Committee, Unit Based Practice Council, and Interdisciplinary Practice Council.

• Conducted thorough patient assessments to identify changes in condition, promptly notifying physicians and initiating appropriate interventions when necessary.
• Utilized critical thinking skills to prioritize nursing interventions based on patients'' acuity levels and individual needs.
• Collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans for complex patients with multiple comorbidities including traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries, amputations, crush injuries, thoracic, and burns.
