- For twenty-three years I have worked in Passport and for the last ten years, from its inception, in the MyCare Waiver program. I receive approximately 35 cases per month that have had an assessment for waiver services completed. I am responsible in determining if Waiver eligibility, has been met in each case, before moving forward with Waiver enrollment. Each individual, applying for the Waiver program, must meet the criteria for income, resources and citizenship in order to be eligible for services. This process entails not only checking the individual's income but, also taking into consideration if this individual has a spouse that would qualify for the MIA (Monthly Income Allowance). If the income level is under $1839.00/month, the individual applying for Waiver would not have a share of cost/liability for waiver services. If the income level is above $2829.00/month then the individual will need to open a QIT, (Qualifying Income Trust) and make the first deposit, before Medicaid eligibility is considered complete. Through this entire process, I work closely with the County and the individual applying for Waiver eligibility. My role may also require me to assist in gathering the needed information, making the process a true team effort.
