Logical, detailed-oriented scientist with 5 years of molecular/genomic experience and 2 years of microbiology experience. Known for meticulous diagnostic testing ranging from identifying a specific bacteria to pinpointing a DNA deletion mutation from analyzing data on an electropherogram. Quality and accuracy driven team player who is proactive and eager to utilize my knowledge and previous experience and offer my skillset to an established diagnostic team without compromising my ambition for learning and adaptation.
I initiate the DNA extraction of patient samples and then organize all samples with their associated molecular test, respectively. Currently, the main diagnostic test methods are Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Known Familial Variant testing (KFV). I assist with developing thorough QC measures and ensure adherence to their standards. My main focus is wet lab preparation, execution, and analysis (and problem solving if needed) within my professional scope. I develop and organize procedures that are efficiently integrated into our mainstream workflow.
I initiated DNA extraction from Peripheral blood, Bone marrow, and paraffin embedded tissue; and RNA isolation from peripheral blood or bone marrow. I planned and organized workflow for efficiency, which would then dictate which PCR test I would set up and when. I performed several different PCR tests with the main focus being fluorescent and allele specific polymerase chain reactions (PCR) assays, as well as multiplex and real time PCR.
My workflow was centered around growing, isolating, and identifying bacteria or yeast. After the identification, I would use "Vitek 2 System" or E-tests and disk diffusion to determine drug sensitivities and, if necessary, troubleshoot contradictory results.
