Mikaela King

A current junior at Southwest Baptist University pursuing a career in discipleship ministry with an emphasis in youth ministry, seeking to represent a kingdom-focused youth ministry through assisting in leadership of students, facilitating and directing student worship and developing musical skills of those students to create a unified body of students that actively pursue Jesus.

I worked at Macedonia Baptist Church for their summer internship program for 12 weeks in June-August 2023. My main role consisted of working closely with the youth pastor in the youth ministry department, in which I assisted with teaching lessons, planning games, and hanging out with students. My other duties consisted of mostly administrative tasks in the office, attending staff meetings, performing any specific tasks for other staff and working on small projects. I effectively created guest goodie bags for the children's department to give to new families visiting the church that included a brand new brochure that I designed, and a branded bouncy ball that I designed. I also planned and led a youth event in place of the youth pastor while he was away. The third main duty I carried out was using my piano-playing skills to participate in Sunday morning worship every week as a part of the praise band. Overall, I built strong relationships with the students and the staff at Macedonia that I continue until this day and gained significant knowledge of the church employment dynamic.
