  • Supplemental Instruction (SI) leader for Biology 116 : "Biological Concepts II: Structure, Function, Cellular and Molecular Biology." I facilitate and plan efficient, student-led, out of class sessions that provide detailed content review in a traditionally difficult Biology course. I assist in the study of inflexible and compulsive reward-seeking behaviors in mice using both pharmacological and genetic approaches to manipulate and uncover the neural circuits responsible for maladaptive behaviors such as addiction. Current and past research includes : Sex differences in alcohol-drinking behaviors, Neural mechanisms of opioid reward and aversion, Early life stress model of co-morbid PTSD and alcohol use disorder.

  • Laboratory technician and research assistant at the Añoveros lab located in the Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine Ward 10-070 department of Anesthesiology. Researched is focused on the organ of the Corti, specifically on the development of outer and inner hair cells in the cochlea and their innervation to the brain.
  • As a laboratory technician, I participate in the research of our head scientists by aiding in:
  • - Data analysis (specifically cell and neuron branch counting)
  • - Genotyping (tail prepping, running PCR’s, loading electrophoresis gels, analyzing electrophoresis gels)
  • - Mouse work (tailing, paw tattooing, breeding, general handling)
  • - Immunohistochemistry (using primary and secondary antibodies to stain tissue, specifically the cochlea)
  • - Microscopy work (confocal and general microscopy).
