• In my research on genetics, I focused on Drosophila melanogaster, commonly known as the fruit fly. These organisms are ideal models for genetic studies due to their short life cycle and well-documented genetic makeup. I investigated the inheritance patterns of specific traits, such as eye color and wing size, by cross-breeding different strains of Drosophila melanogaster and observing the resulting phenotypes across generations. This hands-on experience allowed me to explore Mendelian inheritance, gene expression, and genetic variation, providing valuable insights into how genetic traits are passed down and how mutations can affect development.
