- As a firefighter 1 at the helitack base firefighters have various responsibilities, shift starts early at 0600 and load calculations must be done for each aircraft that is going to be used for the day
- The fuel tender gets ice and water
- As a firefighter on the helicopter you must be in top physical shape and be able to hike quickly with chainsaws and other tools to fires and under supervision of helitack crew supervisor a firefighter is responsible for fire suppression and improving landing zones and other responsibilities as assigned by crew supervisor
- As a firefighter I've had the responsibility of going out of county as a helicopter crew member and setting up helicopter bases, giving out shift tickets for contracted water tenders, and maintaining clean landing zones with crash kits
- Passenger briefing and manifesting, local weather reporting for pilots early in the morning
- Prepare Sling loads with the needed materials
- Ensure local copters are topped off with fuel and in a ready state for the next flight.

- Hand crew member with Rainbow 1, primary responsibility while assigned to wildfire is constructing a fireline with chainsaws and hand tools

- As firefighter on a dozer crew, help maintain bulldozer by fueling, greasing, and changing filters
- Securing and helping unload the bulldozer from the transport truck
- The dozer tender vehicle needs to be checked daily ensuring the slip tank has diesel fuel for the heavy equipment and that all mechanical tools are in their assigned cabinets
- When responding to fires had the responsibility of communicating with ecc, and being the eyes for HFEO as a look out, calling in necessary water drops.
