This is my second server job, and with the experience I acquired from the previous job, I did not receive training and just started to work. I was required to learn a new menu, system, etc. I learned to collaborate with new team members for efficient workflow and excellent guest experiences. I performed opening and closing duties, ensuring the dining area was prepared for seamless service transition.
Working as a server means maintaining a clean and welcoming dining environment for guest comfort and enjoyment. One must also be able to handle customer complaints professionally and resolve the issue promptly. One must perform under pressure as one has to manage multiple tables simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy on order placement and delivery.
The daily duties were to inspect tools, transportation, and PPE required for that day. The crew's main jobs were punching holes in steel, pipe alignment, and cutting steel. During my time on the worksite, I learned to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and proven ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations. Worked well in a team setting, providing support and guidance.
The daily duties involved inspecting the tools, work truck, and PPE required for that day. The crew's main job was landscaping, which involved pouring concrete, planting grass, and so on. One has to be able to learn on the spot, as every house has different needs. The ability to adapt to which job was required of the crew that day, whether it was pouring concrete or planting grass, was also important. The ability to assist with day-to-day operations, work efficiently and productively with all team members, and be willing to learn from coworkers who have much more experience.
My first job required me to learn quickly and adapt to a new environment. The crew did everything from excavating to forming and pouring concrete. They were also in charge of tying the rebar and placing it in its required location. As the youngest on the crew, I had to demonstrate respect, friendliness, and a willingness to help wherever needed.
