  • My son was diagnosed with Autism at the age of three. I became a fierce advocate for him receiving appropriate treatment through a multifaceted approach; medical, educational, and community based.
  • I fought for an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that would help foster the least restrictive environment and allow for lifelong success.
  • This entailed obtaining knowledge and fighting for legal rights. Also, creating and maintaining documentation regarding quality of life and appropriate care.
  • I built on this knowledge with my following two children who also obtained a 504 plan and an IEP. I learned multitask organizational skills in advocating and implementation.
  • I was often told "we don't meet many parents who are as involved or as knowledgeable."

  • My first son was diagnosed with Cyclic Vomiting syndrome (CVS). He had no less then 30 hospital visits at a variety of locations.
  • I maintained continuity of care for 10 years. Including medication management, as well as implementing treatment programs.
  • Searching out medical professionals in addition to advocating for patients rights and quality of life.
  • My second son was diagnosed with Renal tubular Acidosis (RTA) in 2008.
  • I continued medical advocacy for him, both with the healthcare profession and public schools.
