An APS supervises all aquatics programs and staff at the Peter Kirk Pool and the public swimming beaches. They are the lead trainers of the lifeguard staff. They are also the main staff that work with our swim lesson program participants. Performs a variety of duties such as supervision, scheduling, administrative supports, in-service planning and facilitation, training and volunteer management, leadership and motivation of Aquatics Team. Teaches lifeguard and re-certification courses. Aquatic Program Supervisors provide customer service to the community throughout their shift. As support to the City Aquatic Programs, APS staff perform a variety of duties such as lifeguarding, swim lesson instruction, first aid, and assists in program development and training and leadership of staff.

Peter Kirk Pool is located in Kirkland, Washington, which is part of the CIty Award of Kirkland Community Center. Peter Kirk pool is an outdoor pool only open during the summer months. PeterKirk Pool offers swim lessons to children ages 11 months old to 12-year-olds in the morning hours and afternoon hours.

• Taught ages 11 months old to 5-year-olds for the past two summers
• Students were also taught how to be comfortable with getting their face and hair wet.
• These lessons only last a half-hour for each class.
• Depending on the age of the children, classes had no more than 4 to 7 children in the lessons.
• The students were able to learn waiting skills, listening skills, water safety skills.
• I learned communication skills, teaching skills, improved responsibility, increased my knowledge of water safety as well as all safety procedures for a first responder.
• I am certified in AED, CPR on adults and children, First aid, and Lifeguard.
