• I serve as an SLI (Servant Leader Intern) here at Freedom School. As an SLI I guide my students through integrated reading as well as self-reflection while learning how far we have come as a community. Freedom school provides scholars with the tools to be successful and respected citizens wherever they go. We all learn through reading, cheers, chants, singing, and other activities. We love to say that this job is “Hard Heart Work”.

• As the lead teacher at KinderCare my responsibilities were to prepare students for kindergarten and to guide them in discovering more about themselves.
• Maintained organized, fun and interactive classroom to help children feel safe.
• Worked with teaching staff to evaluate individual progress and recommend appropriate learning plans.
• Organized and supervised large and small group activities.
• Sanitized toys and play equipment each day to maintain safety and cleanliness.

• During this internship I worked under and learned from Pastor Joseph Ikner at Linwood BLVD SDA Church in Kansas City, Missouri. I assisted in office work along with helping during church service and different programs for the children and young adults. This was a great learning experience for me – knowing how to interact with different people. During this internship I also served as the summer camp pastor.
