Mya Thigpen

I'm a driven and compassionate individual. This summer I participated in Summer Youth and was a Teacher’s Assistant at PS/IS 323, which allowed me to work 1:1 with the students. During my role as a teacher’s assistance I was able to enhance the student’s engagement and classroom efficiency through meticulous materials preparation and effective classroom management. As for my volunteer experience it spans over 5 years. Every summer I will attend community events with my Mother surrounding Human service / Social work and participated in many community outreach events where I was able to engage, interact and hand out informational pamphlets and agency giveaways while providing support and information. My last community outreach was with Project Hope Coping with COVID. During that time I contributed by helping to community outreach and support, demonstrating organizational skills and emotional intelligence. During My time at staples I was able to understand how to manage being put through situations Where multitasking was more prominent. This looked doing everyday tasks like filling and organizing the overstock while also helping customers. While at Staples I also helped customers with print and marketing services, shipments through amazon and ups and checking out the customers.
