Motivated and dedicated undergraduate freshman majoring in chemistry wishing to pursue a career in drug synthesis research in the future. Looking for opportunities in pharmaceutical companies and chemical research pertaining to medicine.
- Student researcher in Professor Douglas Young’s biochemistry lab. Shadowing and assisting senior lab members with research projects involving incorporating unnatural amino acids in cancer drug functionality through “click” chemistry and stabilization of antibody-drug conjugates.
- Currently working on a project regarding incorporating alternative coupling partners such as polyethylene glycol (PEG) units that may increase conjugate stability and function of drug conjugates.
120+ volunteer hours, employed part-time for 5 months. Assisted new volunteers. Taught students math and English, graded student assignments, managed monthly newsletters and subscribers, and created flyers/forms. Received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.
- Co-author of a published paper in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. Spent 2 months learning R programming under the mentorship of Dr. Sandra Garcet and created data plots displaying clinical research data about the impact of a hepatocyte skin factor on the inflammatory pathways of the skin condition Hidradenitis suppurativa.
- Studied the effects of different drug treatments on psoriasis-impacted tissues through analysis of immunohistochemistry data
