- The RDA system is fairly simple in concept. Product systems interface with the Online Centre(OLC) back-office, where the RDA server is located. The product system representative and product system owners will create a request to the AutoSC to “sweep” specific systems enabling the collection and transfer of reliability data via the ProDiags package (reli on/off requests in the figure). Alternatively, the product system representative can also use ProDiags package as part of their initial process to enable the collection and transfer of reliability data. The RDA server also serves as a repository of analysis and reporting programs developed by product system owners thereby enabling the modalities to query and analyse the data stored on RDA server.

The collected data is typically product system log data and is therefore useful for analysing performance and failure patterns of the product system. The Medical System product engineering community can use this information to gauge the quality and reliability of product systems at various stages in the product development lifecycle.
