BSL-2 Labs at UIC

• In 2022, working with Dr. Kim extracting lithium from oceans. I ran experiments, researched partnered with fellow interns learning the mechanisms of lithium batteries and production methods.
• Researching with Dr. Cheng in 2022; the team and I created a blood-plasma device that separates blood from plasma. We developed a "Simple Bioparticle Filtration Device Based on an Untralow-Fouling Zwitterionic Polyurethane Membrane for Rapid Large-Volume Separation of Plasma and Viruses from Whole Blood". This project was published and allowed me to use nanotechnology microscopes at Northwestern University.
• Summer 2023, alongside Dr. Sangil Kim, Dr. Ying Liu, and PhD students testing and developing a substitute for orthopedic cortisone injections. Testing proved the substitute more effective, fasteracting, and longer lasting. Currently in human clinical trials.
• My second project of 2023, alongside Jenny Huang (Stevenson High School) ran an independent project to target enzymes for drug delivery. Important applications for cancer drugs and pharmaceuticals.
• In 2024 with Dr. Liang-Wei Gong in hisBio-Medical/Neurology tasked with dissecting mice brains, extracting and cloning DNA from the cortex and sequencing fluorescence into DNA. Observed flow with layered microscopes. When the flow of the pathway is proven it will be a breakthrough.

Business Development and Corporate Partnerships (UIC)

Summer of 2023, Intern and researcher at Innovation and Corporate Partnerships, SPARK Innovation Hub, UIC, with Dr. Alan Koncarevic and Avi Mayerhoff, MBA. Assisted strategic partnering with industry and investors, researched ESG companies to create future partnerships. Assisted with the establishment of the Ford Motor Company partnership.

Service Trip

• Summer of 2022, African Philanthropy trip. Went to a Masaï Village in the Kenyan Mountains to install solar panels and wire the homes for lights, outlets, and switches for two weeks. Tutored French, English, and basic math in impoverished schools in Tanzania for one week.

Founder of Community Closets

2023-Present

• Partnered with the Benjamin E. Mays School, Engelwood to sustainably restock their community closet. Looking to expand implementation of community closets in disadvantaged schools in Chicago and beyond.

Cradles to Crayons

• Donated hours to sort clothes for children.

• Cooking and serving meals for the homeless community.
