1. Protein Purification

• Follow Standard Operating Procedures and Manufacturing Batch Records while demonstrating a strong commitment to schedule adherence in order to meet customer demand.
• Help to establish robust protocols for the small- and large-scale purification of enzymes and antibodies using ÄKTA purifier, ÄKTA pilot, and BioRad NGC FPLCs.

2. Quality Control and Assurance

• Ensure quality product by following and updating standard operating procedures while working under ISO9001- regulated environment.
• Investigate and resolve deviations, nonconformances, and customer complaints, implementing corrective and preventative actions to maintain high-quality standards.

3. Process Optimization

• Continuously monitor and evaluate manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with members of the Manufacturing Sciences team to optimize purification processes for higher yields and purity.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with quality assurance, planning, and inventory control teams to ensure customer needs are met.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.

5. Safety

• Foster a culture of safety excellence by leading the Grassroots Safety program and encouraging the leadership development of my colleagues by enabling them to take on different responsibilities within the group.
• Partner with colleagues at other Thermo Fisher sites to share information about, and to facilitate launch of, a new Grassroots Safety program.
• Lead and participate in Root Cause Countermeasure activities to identify appropriate corrective and preventative actions following safety incidents.

6. Other Responsibilities

• Create and facilitate trainings using Training Within the Industry methodology to streamline the training process, and increase employee retention.
• Facilitate Practical Process Improvement exercises to assist my colleagues in determining more efficient ways to perform their day-to-day tasks.
• Assist in financial forecasting for the Proteins Purification team on a monthly basis, implementing a method for calculating projected SVOP that increases forecast accuracy.

1. Antibody Purification

• Extensive use of XK chromatography columns for the purification of antibodies with Protein G affinity chromatography.

2. Kinase Purification

• Use of XK chromatography columns and HiTrap pre-packed columns for smaller-scale protein purifications using ÄKTA purifier FPLCs.
• Text editing in Unicorn 5 software.

1. Nucleic Acid Purification

• Performed nucleic acid purification processes using anion exchange, phenol:chloroform extraction, and precipitation techniques.
• Optimized protocols to achieve high yields while minimizing production costs.
