- TACTICAL RECOVERY- Maintained the 4 and only vehicle recovery assets (Wreckers) for 9th Communication Battalion. Coordinated with the MIG and developed a Wrecker duty roster every 3 months which provided vehicle recovery support for every battalion within the MIG. Ensured that all 3 vehicle recovery operators were prepared on standby during all field operations and ready to go out on missions within 15 minutes from the request. - FIELD OPERATIONS- Conducted route reconnaissance for field sites and routes for convoy operations. Identified security threats, memorized routes, and ensured routes were acceptable for safe training in order to mitigate unnecessary risk. Educated 93 junior staff how to properly secure cargo onto tactical vehicles and trailers in preparation for harsh weather conditions, uneven terrain, and narrow or high-speed roads. Instructed how to properly chain and bind heavier cargo versus lighter loads which only require straps or fasteners. Conducted more instructive operations that hazmat endorsed drivers had the proper gear while going on a mission. This gear includes correct placards which indicate the type of precious cargo within the vehicle, fire extinguishers, straps, chock blocks or tires, and cones or triangles to alert other drivers if pulled to the side of the road. Assisted the licensing office with monitoring and executing skills tests for tactical vehicles with a variety of trailers. These skills tests included straight line backing, alley docking, offset left and right backing, as well as road miles with assigned trucks and trailers.
- CONVOY OPERATIONS- Advised 54 junior staff how to properly read route cards, convoy etiquette, threat assessment, and non-verbal communication such as hand and arm signals while on convoy operations. Conducted tactical simulations training which teaches Marines how to make non-lethal improvised explosive devices (IEDs) for realistic training purposes. Evaluated junior staffs' abilities to respond to threats and placed them in leadership and advantageous roles in convoys and patrols. Developed standard operating procedures (SOP's) for Marines within 9th Communication Battalion in order to have guidelines of law to follow while coming in contact with threats or obstacles.
