Directed the library media specialist functions at Pioneer High School, a four-year school in Ann Arbor, MI.
• Worked and coordinated with coworker librarian media specialist and clerk to manage and maintain the school library media center with an inventory of more than 18,000 printed books, SORO, an eBook catalog resource, Media Cast, a digital video database, and reference digital resource databases, including JSTORs, the Gale Collection, etc.
• Assisted students, teachers, and staff in research and resource location, reorganized fiction books by genre to align with students’ browsing habits and improve resource accessibility.
• Evaluated library inventory needs, managed budget, and placed orders to purchase young adult books. Identified technology needs and managed the assignment of individual student laptop computers.
• Coordinated with staff to ensure that their needs were met to support their curriculum.
• Instructed whole classes on database usage and research techniques to support curriculum needs.
• Instrumental in earning the distinguished award presented by the Library of Michigan and Michigan Department of Education for “exemplary status as a 21st Century Library.
• Coordinated community programs, including book fairs and cultural events, that enhanced library awareness and boosted book circulation.
• Coordinated with teachers and staff to ensure that students’ needs were met to support their classroom curriculum and projects.
• Organized and conducted book fairs sponsored by Scholastic Book Fairs.
