On August 26, 2006 Sgt Neal Lucero was dispatched to 526 1st St at Firestone Liquors to answer a call of an armed robbery. Sgt Lucero. He noticed the back door was open and called for additional officers to respond. Before their arrival noises were heard coming from some bushes located nearby. Someone was hiding and the individual matched the description of the suspect from earlier in  the night. Sgt Lucero placed the suspect into custody. and did a pat down that led to recovery of the weapon used earlier in a robbery and also discovered money bags that held $2367.91 and liquor from the business. Sgt Lucero was commended for his actions and awarded the Police Merit Award on August 26, 2006
