Implemented and enforced State of Alaska solid waste and pesticides regulations, and assisted with the Hazardous Waste Program as needed. Objectives were to protect public health and the environment by minimizing the impacts of solid waste treatment and disposal activities and effects of improper use and handling of pesticides, to actively manage the risk factors associated with solid waste storage, treatment, and disposal activities and pesticide handling and application, and serve as a point-of-contact between the department and the regulated community.

Provided high level technical assistance to Solid Waste Program staff, facility operators and owners, and consultants and engineers. Assisted Program manager in administration of the Solid Waste Program, and the Hazardous Waste and Pesticides Control Programs as needed. Served as a technical consultant for Program staff, the Department, other agencies, industry, and the public to address technical and controversial issues related to solid waste facilities and pesticide application, statewide.

Functioned independently as an advanced project manager for municipal and non-municipal solid waste landfills and treatment facilities in Interior and Northern Alaska. Provided technical and compliance assistance to regulated facilities, permitted various facilities, and conducted inspections at these facilities.

Coordinated with facility owners and operators, local, state, and federal agencies, private citizens and organizations, engineering and consulting firms, and other groups. Duties included permitting, monitoring, and assessing compliance at solid waste facilities.

Provided paraprofessional, technical, and administrative support to Environmental Program Specialist and Engineering staff members in implementing regulatory objectives for the Drinking Water Program. Assisted in implementing and enforcing State of Alaska Drinking Water Program regulations. Worked with owners and operators of public water systems by providing technical, educational, and compliance assistance regarding their public water systems. Reviewed and validated microbiological and chemical water quality analytical data for compliance with Program requirements.

Worked on my research project during graduate school at UAF which involved assessing Arctic Fox winter movement and diet in developed and undeveloped areas in Northern Alaska. Wrote research proposals, maintained research budgets, conducted research in the field and lab, wrote trip reports, coordinated with other Departments and Agencies to comply with various research requirements and permitting, wrote a thesis, and presented scientific research.

Taught the laboratory component of the mammology course for students at UAF. Set up all labs and reviews, assisted professor with lectures in the classroom, gave lectures when professor was absent, gave lectures during the laboratory sections of course, wrote and set up lab exams, organized lab specimens, and answered student questions. Communicated course information to students for an upper-level biology course.

Worked at the front desk at the Fairbanks ADF&G office. Answered questions from the public or directed public questions to biologists, interpreted hunting, fishing and trapping regulations and explained rules and regulations to the public, issued registration permits and harvest tickets as well as sold licenses and big game tags, checked out educational kits, videos, and films, queried data bases to find harvest information and answer public questions, prepared maps using GIS software programs, While in the lab, sealed wildlife, cut and aged teeth, collected wildlife specimens, and preparing telemetry equipment.

Built new homes and performed extensive remodels, operated equipment, purchased construction supplies for different jobs, organized projects, coordinated with subcontractors, supervised crew of construction workers, communicated with homeowners, performed billing and invoicing work, worked on numerous projects at the same time and kept projects on track.
