  • My role as a used car detailer I start off by researching current inventory through various automotive mobile applications, and seeing which vehicles are completed with the service process and ready to be detailed.
  • I maintain various tools and instruments required for detailing such as my polishers, buffers, pads, compounds and other chemicals such as degreasers and sulfuric acid while practicing proper safety techniques.
  • Starting off the detail process I communicate with service advisors to determine working on the next car done with service. I then move the vehicle to my stall while inspecting for damages while taking a mental note of what tasks I need to complete for making the car look new again.
  • After Inspecting I would start with the area that seems most time consuming such as the interior if filled with stains and dog hair or sand. using various tools such as vacuums, compressed air tools, brushes, chemicals and extractors I deep clean all interiors to look as new as possible.
  • All exteriors of vehicles get degreased, washed, clayed, acid washed in some scenarios, and then dried with an air compressor and towel before getting prepped for the buffing and protecting stage.
  • Using a rotary buffer and dual action polisher I will either do a one to three step cut and polish, such as wet sanding and compounding deeper individual scratches. My end goal is for paint to look glossy and smooth with no swirl marks left over. I finish the detail by using a form of wax or sealant to protect the paint while sitting on the lot, then sending it out ready for photos and porters to place on the lot.
  • My other duties include maintaining the shop by filling bottles with chemicals, cleaning the detail stalls, swapping out hoses and pressure washers that break, checking in keys, and assisting others on help they might need such as washing and drying the cars on the lot as refreshes.
