The Fire Prevention Supervisor is responsible for directing, coordinating, and evaluating the daily activities of fire prevention personnel. This role emphasizes leadership, accountability, and team development while ensuring that all inspection, plan review, and enforcement functions are carried out effectively and in alignment with departmental standards. The position serves as a critical link between executive leadership and field personnel, ensuring clear communication, operational consistency, and high performance across the division.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate fire prevention staff, ensuring productivity, accountability, and professional development
• Assign and prioritize workloads, balancing inspections, plan reviews, and enforcement activities to meet operational demands
• Provide guidance and decision-making support on complex code interpretations and enforcement actions
• Ensure consistent application of fire codes, policies, and procedures across all personnel and assignments
• Act in a leadership capacity during the Fire Marshal’s absence, overseeing operations and supporting critical decision-making
• Serve as a communication bridge between executive staff (Fire Marshal, Assistant Chief) and field personnel, ensuring alignment and clarity
• Coordinate with internal and external partners, including city departments and law enforcement, to support safe operations and compliance efforts
• Oversee quality control of inspections, reports, and plan reviews to maintain accuracy and consistency
• Address personnel issues, performance concerns, and conflict resolution in a timely and professional manner

This role supports the Fire Marshal in executing the division’s mission while maintaining high standards of professionalism, accountability, and service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and support fire prevention staff, ensuring efficient execution of inspections, plan reviews, and enforcement efforts
• Apply and interpret fire codes to uphold safety standards across commercial properties, new developments, and special events
• Serve as a primary point of coordination between Fire Prevention leadership and department personnel at all levels
• Step into the role of Fire Marshal when assigned, providing guidance, direction, and operational oversight
• Work closely with command staff to align division activities with departmental goals and community needs
• Collaborate with city departments to support safe construction, development, and event planning
• Partner with law enforcement on firework-related enforcement, including investigations and confiscation of illegal materials
• Conduct field inspections and evaluate fire protection systems to identify hazards and ensure compliance
• Engage with business owners and the public to promote fire safety awareness and prevention practices
• Address violations through appropriate corrective actions, ensuring risks are mitigated effectively
• Maintain thorough and accurate records to support compliance, reporting, and accountability

Providing excellent customer service, education, safety and code enforcement through the fire inspection process. Conduct fire inspections and re-inspections for the City of Chandler at all types of occupancies, special events, mobile food units, investigate complaints and all other job duties assigned. I conduct new construction inspections while working with the General Contractor and the City of Chandler Building Department Inspector. I attend City of Chandler Special Event meetings and work with the Special Event Coordinators. I also work on code complaint plan reviews for the Special Events and TSPE's in the City of Chandler. I am a full time Fire Investigator with the City of Chandler Fire Department. I conduct Origin and Cause fire investigations and have a close working relationship with the Chandler Police Department. I have a great working relationship with the Chandler Fire Department Firefighters on a fire scene and off. The Firefighters understand that they can call me with any questions they may have about an investigation or a fire code questions and if I need to handle a complaint. I have been a liaison for the Battalion Chiefs and Firefighters with businesses in the City of Chandler.

Interpret and enforce local and international fire codes to ensure compliance and life safety standards
Serve as a liaison between Fire Prevention Division leadership, including the Fire Marshal, Assistant Chief, Battalion Chiefs, Captains, and Firefighters
Act in the capacity of Fire Marshal when assigned, assuming leadership responsibilities, decision-making authority, and oversight of division operations
Collaborate directly with the Fire Marshal to implement division procedures, policies, and strategic direction
Coordinate with Assistant Chief on personnel matters, community concerns, and operational priorities
Partner with city departments including Building, Planning, and Special Events to ensure safe development and event compliance
Work directly with Police Department Lieutenants and Sergeants on firework enforcement operations, including investigation, compliance actions, and confiscation of illegal materials
Conduct fire and life safety inspections for commercial properties, new construction, and special events
Review construction plans and fire protection systems for compliance with applicable codes and standards
Provide public education and guidance to business owners and community members on fire prevention and safety practices
Investigate fire code violations and implement corrective actions to mitigate hazards
Maintain detailed documentation, reports, and compliance records
Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and customer service within the division and community
