I would quickly describe myself as: resilient, organized, humble, caring, loving, gentle, considerate or others, and lastly I enjoy time management. I have a deep compassion for wanting to help people as well as just conversing with people.
I have 6 years of experience of enjoying children from the ages of 6 weeks to 10 years old. I was given the opportunity to run the summer camp program and was a lead teacher in both toddler rooms, as well as the young preschool room. During my time I would care and love the children as my own. Developing a schedule and lesson plans that individually worked for each child in the room. The plans were creative, thoughtful, playful. I would also provide a clean and playful environment for the children. Everything that was planned for the children was developmentally appropriate as well as challenges to encourage motivation. The other duties include: diapering, toileting, potty training, feedings, meal prep, hand washing, dressing, teaching self help skills, learning and keeping up to date with DHS and the stars program. (Star 3) I also held parent-teacher conferences twice a year to discuss the development of their child. During this time I would also discuss what I have provided as well as their next milestone and my next steps.
I have 4 years of experience with working with people who have been diagnosed with intellectual disabilities. Each individual had their own very different needs, it was imperative to build a relationship to know how to help and guide them through their goals and life. During this time I would help and teach them with: meal prepping, cooking, baking, dressing, bathing, oral hygiene, toileting, diapering, scheduling, transportation, medical and non medical appointments, volunteer work, administering medications, providing outings, job coaching, and just simply providing companionship. I would also help the individuals obtain short, long term goals and with making new ones.
