I have been a nurse for 26 years. Working in several different fields, from ICU to rehab. I have been traveling off and on for 18 years. I have gained a lot of knowledge throughout the years that has been very beneficial to me that has me become a well rounded professional. I have a Daisy Award and multiple nominations. I’m looking to still grow in bed side nursing and make a difference in the lives of my patients and their family.
At OSF St France’s Medical Centers in Peoria IL. I started in October of 1988 as a unit secretary and then progressed to being a CNA, where I found my passion in healthcare and wanted to be a nurse. I started my nursing career in 1998. I took a position on an ICU step down unit that was a great opportunity for me. I took care of long term ventilation patients and complicated wounds. I had a drive to see and do more in my nursing career so I took a PRN position at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL. In January of 2002. I started off just doing house wide registry. In 2003 I floated down to the ER and my career as an ER nurse was my ultimate desire. I wanted to travel and started doing that off and on with several different companies. I have been at nursing homes, LTAC facilities and hospitals, from level one facilities to level three facilities. I have had the luck to change up and keep my nursing career very excited always learning something new. I have been the charge nurse, preceptor, on the rapid response team, code team, IV team, stroke team, disaster team, as well as CPI, wound nurse and trauma nurse specialist certified.
I have been had the drive to see the world and get paid doing it. I now at a place in my life that I want to put down roots with my family here in Texas and I have truly enjoyed it so far but it’s time for me to get back to work.
