- Classification Unit of Wayne County Sheriff's Department Jail Divisions 1-3 consisted of report writing, case management, DNA/fingerprint collection, received and obtained probation, tether and other court related paperwork, multitasking, organizational skills, specialized training for databases such as JMS, JIS, TALON, NCIC, LEIN, ODYSSEY, ROA, and other important confidential databases.
- I classified youthful and adult inmates of all genders by prior and current convictions, behavior history (including mental and substance abuse), and any written incident reports for discipline, violation of probation, tether, court paperwork and rehabilitative programs.
- By classifying current booked inmates, they were properly housed in their correct cell along with other inmates of the same crime and gender.
- Commitments to jail, MDOC and other programs with GPS tether are properly taken care of.
- I conducted thorough investigations and case management for juveniles and adult offenders through Classification Questionnaire form and other confidential forms obtained.
- Witness interviews and other interviews were conducted from myself and assigned floor security officer along with a higher command Sergeant in cases dealing with PREA, an inmates life feeling endangered and/or anything that did not abide within the Wayne County Jail guidelines and policies.

- Functions included: booking, searching and guarding prisoners.
- I provided inmates with a detailed copy of personal belongings that was brought in with them.
- Court documents, warrants and/or other confidential paperwork was retrieved and I scanned them into the JMS database and also properly file them away based on the inmates assigned booking number.
- I also booked in current and/or returning inmates with their current charge and next court date.
- Medical staff was alerted and informed if I obtained any information from inmates paperwork as well as if an inmate notified me that they were a suicide risk, overdosed on a controlled substance and/or were pregnant.

- I conducted thirty to hour routine floor checks while maintaining order and guarding inmates.
- Floor checks included a thorough check of having the correct number of inmates on both the small and large sides of the ward, making sure that the inmates were housed correctly in their cell assigned and enforcing policies and guidelines within the Wayne County Jail Division 1.
- Observed jail and inmate activity to maintain order and safety of inmates and guards.
- I also assisted inmates with advising them of their current account balance, upcoming court dates, medical appointments and other important confidential information through JMS database system.
- Meal trays for breakfast, lunch and dinner were also given to inmates from myself and assigned floor security partner.
