Conduct neutral, fact-finding interviews with children and adolescents who are alleged victims of abuse or witnesses to violent crimes. The role involves coordinating with a multidisciplinary team and may require providing expert testimony in court.

Core responsibilities

• Conduct unbiased, legally defensible, and culturally sensitive forensic interviews with child and adolescent victims and witnesses of abuse or violence.
• Coordinate interviews with the multidisciplinary team, which includes law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors, and medical and mental health professionals.
• Participate in pre- and post-interview case reviews with the multidisciplinary team to discuss interview strategy, review findings, and ensure proper follow-up.
• Accurately document all interviews, including a summary of any disclosures made by the child, for agency case files and legal proceedings.
• Provide expert testimony in court regarding interview procedures and findings.
• Maintain accurate case records using agency tracking software.
• Ensure interviews adhere to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines and legal standards.
• Stay up-to-date on research and best practices in forensic interviewing and child maltreatment.
• Support the overall mission and values of the National Children's Advocacy Center.

• Responsible for investigating allegations of child abuse or neglect. Works closely with law enforcement agencies and other professionals to gather evidence and determine the validity of reports.
• Conducting interviews with alleged victims, their families, and witnesses.
• Collecting and analyzing evidence, such as medical records, photographs, and forensic evidence.
• Collaborating with social workers, psychologists, and medical professionals to assess the safety and well-being of the child.
• Writing accurate and detailed reports documenting findings and recommendations.
• Testifying in court proceedings relating to child abuse cases.
• Providing support and resources to victims and their families.
• Collaborating with community organizations and agencies to educate the public about child abuse prevention.

• A mental health professional that works within a correction facility to provide mental health support and reduce recidivism.
• Conducting mental health assessments and screenings for inmates.
• Assisting with discharge planning and connecting inmates with community resources upon release.
• Attend court hearings
