Biomedical Engineering major with a strong desire to pursue medical school upon completion of undergraduate degree. Passionate about bridging the gap between engineering innovation and patient care. As a first-generation immigrant, I have experienced the luxuries of life in America while witnessing the harsh realities of lacking basic necessities in Bangladesh. This dual experience has motivated me to pursue a career in the medical field, with a strong determination to overcome geographical limitations and contribute to improving medical care.
I actively participated in a mental health seminar where I addressed the root causes of mental health challenges within the South Asian community. During the seminar, I spoke about my personal experiences with colorism, highlighting how deeply ingrained cultural biases can negatively impact self-esteem and emotional well-being. By sharing my story, I helped to create a environment for space and encouraged others to reflect on the intersection of cultural identity and mental health. This experience strengthened my commitment to advocating for mental health awareness, especially in communities where stigma often silences important conversations.
