2017 Teacher of the Year, South Brunswick Middle School
I have always enjoyed working with young people, and have been fortunate to teach many artistically creative students. We were the only middle school in Brunswick County to have a National Junior Art Honor Society. We created school wide art displays, both indoor and outdoor, took field trips to art museums, and created props/backdrops for our school plays/musicals. My students also created a permanent art collection for our county's district attorneys' conference room. Yearly art displays were also done for the county, along with other Brunswick County Schools
I was also very fortunate to have a school administration who heavily promoted the arts in our school. I was so blessed to have supportive and collaborative staff and teachers, and was very humbled by the recognition received.
