I've been here at Black Sheep for the last six months. and it has been an absolutely fantastic learning experience. Previous to my current role in the kitchen I had been serving for 3 years. And being able to take some of the knowledge that I've gained through serving and apply it in real hands on situations in the kitchen has not only been incredibly self-fulfilling, but fun! learning the inner workings of an industry I had been on the other side of the fence of for years has given me more respect for those that cook. And more insight and understanding than I previously had.


Qualifications that have made my job in the kitchen a lot easier.

  • I'm trained on every station in the restaurant. Both Front of House and Back of House. That includes Fry station, Grill station and Pantry for back of House. And Front counter, Drive through and Expo line for Front of House.
  • I boil-out the fryers early in the morning and occasionally stay to deep clean the store and other equipment.
  • Food Handler's Certification. Through Servesafe
  • Missouri SMART Alcohol Training


Daily expectations and practices

  • Starting and preparing equipment for service.
  • Maintaining excellent sanitation standards to prevent the spread of disease and illness.
  • Properly preparing and evenly portioning goods for service. Including produce, poultry, meats and grains.
  • Storing unprepared food items in a manner that prevents cross contamination or premature expiration.
  • Cooking and preparing food orders to guests satisfaction and request.
  • Creating delicious products and nurturing a comfortable, clean environment that keep guests returning through our doors.
  • Cleaning and shutting down equipment. And storing unused products in a safe and clean manner to be used the next day.

Barista

Working for Black Lab Coffee Company, Galloway was an absolutely fantastic experience. For the most of the time I worked alone in the coffee shop. I would hand prepare syrups, baked goods, and coffee. And greet guests and neighbors with a smile.

At the Alamo Drafthouse I strived to provide excellent service for guests coming to enjoy an evening in the beautiful bliss of cinema. I would usually stay for 2 rounds of showings. Which included coming in to clean and prepare a theater for a showing. Greeting and serving guests, ordering and catering food & beverages before and during showtimes. And cleaning up afterwards.
