Oscar Hernandez

BACKROUND

My name is Oscar Hernandez and I am 19 years old. I lived in Sherwood Oregon my entire life. I graduated from Sherwood Highschool in 2024 with a 3.4 GPA. I was always taught to show respect towards others and help others when they are struggling. I've always enjoyed talking to new people and giving them good impressions. I've been working at Walmart for almost three years now therefor a desire for a new job as hit me. My hobbies is cooking, swimming, weightlifting, driving around places, trying new things with friends, going around portland and finding new restaurants. I always love to cook for my family and my friends because it shows my personal style and taste when it comes to food. I am a full time student at Portland Community College under the 2 year welding program which I enjoy very much and seek a career in welding. But I do seek a job at the South Store Cafe as a part of fulltime job as I make it through the year with College.

Why do I want to work at the South Store Cafe?

For almost three years working at Walmart as it has been my very first job since junior year in highschool, I've been slowly getting more and more exhausted with the same job, same breakroom, same parking lot, same store music, and same routine.

But now I want something different than working at a grocery store, I want to work somewhere where everyone is trying to learn to be better together, where people care about each other and how they are doing. I've been to the South Corner Cafe multiple times and everytime I enter there, the environment there is very calmly different from what I'm used to and it just catches my attention. Whenever I take a bite of my egg croissant sandwich, I admire all of the lights and the colors in the wood and ceiling. I also take a look at the people behind the counter and they look like they really like their jobs but I'm sure they all have their bad days.

I feel like I would be a great employee at the South Store Cafe because I really enjoy talking to and meeting new people and I'm always willing to help others out if they are struggling. I am also good at following procedures.
