Heart Hospital and medical unit in HGH clinical shifting
Hamad General Hospital
09.2016 - 02.2017
Both of these semesters I had the chance to take care of critically ill patients whose condition became more stable. Fall 2016 (HH, in patient), I took care of patients with a lot of co-morbidities, but the main focus were regarding their heart condition. I was able to take care of two patient under the supervision of my instructor. I was able to develop appropriate nursing care plan based on my assessment skills. Winter 2017 (medical floor) was similar experience to the HH with more shifting hours (same as regular staff nurse schedule). During this clinical placement I had the chance to observe and participate in code blue as well as RRT. During this clinical placement I was more exposed to unstable conditions (like uncontrolled HTN, low O2 sat, tachypnea, and alerted level of consciousness...) and react to it according to the guideline of practice.
Selected topics in nursing (oncology)
03.2016 - 05.2016
During this elective course I was able to learn about the cancer stages, risk factors, diagnostic tests (tumor markers), prognosis, palliative treatment and possible surgical treatment. In addition to that I have learned about the other aspects of end of life care. This would make me fit to take care of the patients who have advanced incurable illness and interact properly with their families.
